Transferring Authority for Family Businesses Monograph by Joe Paul

Transferring Authority for Family Businesses

DIGITAL (PDF):  $15.00

PAGES:  7
AUTHOR:  Joe Paul

This paper considers the emergence of authority in family businesses. It is an attempt to develop a conceptual map for understanding these complex systems. The bias of this discussion is that the ontogeny of authority in family businesses is a relational phenomenon linked to the genesis of family legacy. The antecedents of competent authority, the variable ability of families to generate and tolerate competent leaders, and the distribution of authority will be examined in the context of the transgenerational family systems theories of Ivan Boszormenyi-Nagy and Murray Bowen.
